Romtec frequently supplies restrooms for trails and trailheads to provide facilities even while exploring the great outdoors. In the Quanah Hill project, Romtec supplied a single unisex restroom facility to serve guests of the Quanah Hill Bike Trails near Lake Weatherford in Texas, located west of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
The Quanah Hill Trails are “approximately 7 miles of intermediate-level trail spread across five loops”, and primarily used for mountain biking (“Quanah Hill”, 2021). The loops or segments of the trail vary in length from .3 miles to 3 miles long, and can climb up to 398 ft. Guests can choose from the El Bandido, Bankhead, Good Night Good Luck, Lost Boys Loop, and 1886 trails, which are maintained by the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club. (“Quanah Hill”, 2021)
Romtec supplied a single, unisex plumbed restroom to the City of Weatherford to place at the Quanah Hills Trails. Entrance to the restroom is underneath a roof extension, providing protection from the elements when entering or exiting the restroom. The structure is composed of a smooth face gray block, with a local stone veneer by the installing contractor, MHD Construction, and a natural metal roofing in Zincalume Plus that will reflect sunlight and keep the interior of the structure cool. Wooden Pillars support the roof extension, and continue the natural look provided by the stone veneer.
Inside the restroom, guests can utilize high efficiency fixtures and have access to running water, soap, and paper towels. In addition to allowing guests to practice good hygiene and cleanliness, the restroom itself will be easy to clean in the event of a mess. The installed floor drain will make for easy cleanup, allowing maintenance personnel to easily wash the space with a hose.
MHD installed this structure onsite for the City of Weatherford, allowing riders and guests to lengthen their stay on the trails. The City of Weatherford has gained a new piece of public infrastructure that is appreciated daily by the biking community and the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club.
