Cabin – FAQ

Are Romtec Cabins prefabricated?

Romtec Cabins are individually designed by our Engineering team with direction by the customer to meet their specific needs for their project. Romtec offers both prefabricated and site-built cabin models.

Can I get custom design features on my Cabin?

Yes, Romtec is a design and supply firm that specializes in developing unique designs to meet each customer’s project requirements. Romtec has designed several Cabins with specific design features, such as: various types of exterior siding (natural log, hardi-board and batten, stone siding, cedar shake siding, among others) and different types of roofing (shingle, cedar shake, thatched, living roof, etc.). Once the customer decides on which features they would like for their cabin, the Engineers at Romtec draw the unique design in AutoCAD. It is then submitted for the customer’s approval and the approval of the local building department in the customer’s county.

Can I get Romtec Cabin Plans in my Bid Specification Package?

Yes, Romtec helps develop bid specifications for implementation in Bid Specification Packages. Please contact the Romtec Sales Department during the specification process to ensure that the project advances by developing a quote for approval and construction.

How can I make my Cabin more affordable?

Romtec’s Engineering Team acknowledges the customer’s budget, as well as their project requirements, while designing each structure in order to present an affordable, functional and compliant building for the customer. Romtec can also take an existing Cabin design and value-engineer it to meet the customer’s budget, and projected schedule.

How long will it take for my Cabin to be constructed?

Most of the Romtec Cabins can be constructed in 6 to 8 weeks. For Romtec turnkey (supply and installation of the building) projects, there are many factors that determine the construction schedule, which will be discussed in the preliminary conversations based on the customer’s project needs. For building supply only, the construction timeline will need to be set by the customer’s general contractor for the project.

What are the benefits of site-built Cabins?

Romtec’s site-built Cabins are permanent structures that are constructed with cement blocks for increased durability and longevity of the buildings. Site-built structures also have the advantage of being customizable to meet the needs of any park, campground or recreation site. Prefabricated Cabins are restricted in design feature options and are structurally weaker than these site-built Cabins.

What types of interior and exterior options can I get for my Cabin?

Romtec offers many options for exterior design including various types of siding (hardi-board and batten, stone wainscot, natural log, cedar shake siding, among others) and interior features such as unique lighting fixtures and flooring options (Saddle Brook wood flooring, high-strength epoxy mortar, etc.). There are several other design features that can be accommodated for the customer’s project needs.
