In the Laguna Campground Rehabilitation project, Romtec supplied a total of 7 waterless vault restroom structures to be placed throughout the campground at Mt. Laguna, California, in the Cleveland National Forest.
Romtec is a leading supplier of waterless vault restrooms in the United States, and has been selling waterless restroom products since 1979. Waterless vault restrooms are perfect for remote areas that do not have access to utilities such as water or power, and are frequently installed in National Parks, National Forests, and campgrounds.
The Laguna Campground is nestled in the Laguna Mountains, with large pine and oak trees that are home to many native species of birds. Not far from the campground, Little Laguna Lake offers hiking, exploration, and photography opportunities for guests to enjoy the great outdoors. The Cleveland National Forest came to Romtec as a part of their rehabilitation to provide new restroom buildings to service the campground guests.
For the project, Romtec supplied a waterless vault toilet with four individual, American Disability Act (ADA) compliant restrooms and a mechanical room; a waterless vault toilet with two individual ADA compliant restrooms, and an attached mechanical room; and 5 waterless vault toilets with two individual restrooms that are ADA compliant. Each restroom is outfitted with a 1000-gallon vault below our patented toilet riser. Our 1000-gallon vaults can safely accommodate 15,000 uses, and our hardy polyethylene risers are damage resistant and easy to clean.
The entrances to the individual restrooms are covered by a roof extension on all of the structures, with steel columns and a natural wood privacy screen to give guests protection from the elements and privacy when entering or exiting the restrooms. The exteriors of the structures all match, and provide a unified aesthetic throughout the campground. Each structure is composed of smooth face gray block with board and batten siding and a metal shake roofing. The doors, wall vents, and gable window frames are all powder coated black to provide a sleek and finished look and resistance to damage.
In addition to the unified theme and aesthetically pleasing exterior, the structures utilize natural light and ventilation to provide a more pleasant and efficient experience inside. Gable windows allow the natural sunlight into the building, and kick proof wall vents ensure that air can flow through the structure and prevent unpleasant odors from lingering.
The Cleveland National Forest was very pleased with the supplied Romtec structures, as well as Romtec’s efforts to match the historic campgrounds requirements. The new Romtec structures not only meet the aesthetic needs of the park, but also the functional needs, and will be able to service the guests that make their way into the Laguna Mountains and campgrounds each summer season.
