Since 1979, Romtec has supplied waterless, prefabricated toilet structures in areas such as the National Forests, National Parks, and other natural get-a-ways that don’t have access to plumbing or electricity. In the recent Lake Roosevelt project, Romtec supplied one of our “traditional” single-user vault toilets at Lake Roosevelt in Coulee Dam, Washington.
Lake Roosevelt is a National Recreation Area in Washington with a man-made lake created by the Coulee Dam. According to the National Park Service website, “[t]he ancient geologic landscape of the upper Columbia River cradles Lake Roosevelt in walls of stone carved by massive ice age floods”, allowing guests to witness firsthand the historical effects of the last ice age. This truly unique environment encourages the public to get outdoors and enjoy the water and explore the landscape while camping at one of the many campsites available for reservation. Romtec supplied a Traditional single-user, waterless, vault toilet to the Lake Roosevelt branch of the National Park Service for installation on site. The exterior of this vault restroom is composed of a durable polyethylene plastic, with a Romtec Toilet Riser, metal grab bars, and a hand sanitizer dispenser inside. The restroom and riser sit above one of Romtec’s 750-gallon vaults, which can accommodate approximately 11,000 uses prior to pumping.
The Romtec vault restroom uses natural lighting and ventilation for a pleasant experience. Guests do not need to worry about odors that are common in waterless toilets because, with our Sweet-Smelling Technology, SST®, heavy ventilation and air-flow systems create an odor-free facility. Strong odors can discourage guests from using the facilities and can create a health hazard, which is why Romtec has engineered our own system to prevent odors from building up in the structure.
Romtec’s Traditional vault restrooms are pre-fabricated and ship to the site ready to be installed. Instructions included with the documentation and shipment make installation of the structure easier than ever. The installation of this American Disability Act (ADA) compliant vault restroom at Lake Roosevelt provides a restroom for guests of all abilities, and will help to provide a more convenient and cleanly experience at the Lake.
