In the Turner Field project, Romtec worked with the City of Greer for the design and supply of a new restroom structure at Turner Park. The City of Greer was able to purchase their new restroom through the Purchasing Cooperative of America (PCA), a national purchasing cooperative available in all 50 states for public sector agencies and non-profits.
Turner Park is a small park nestled in neighborhoods in Greer, South Carolina, and provides a baseball field with lights and a large open green space for guests to enjoy and get active (“Turner Park”, 2017). As an area for guests to participate in sports, it was important to provide a restroom for participants and spectators.
Romtec supplied a small restroom structure that would meet the needs of the park and guests. The supplied restroom is a single user unisex restroom that is ADA compliant, and features motion sensor flushometers and push button faucets to make using the restroom easier for guests of all abilities. The restroom can be accessed from the face of the structure underneath a roof extension that also shelters dual water fountains to provide safe and clean drinking water for guests at the park. In addition to the restroom, the structure also includes a small mechanical room that is accessible from the rear.
The restroom building is small but it is an attractive addition to the park. The structure is composed of a smooth face CMU block with lap siding, and a stone veneer wainscot for a variety of materials and textures that adds a dynamic appearance to the building. The roofing of the structure is a hardy metal roofing in a light gray shade that matches the stone wainscot and continues the aesthetic of the building while also providing protection from weather concerns such as wind, rain, and ice.
Apostolic Construction, a general contractor out of Taylors, South Carolina, constructed the Romtec restroom package onsite for the City of Greer. The successful completion of this project provides important facilities at Turner Park, improves accessibility, and will improve the ability of the park to host future events for the community to enjoy.
