San Marcos is just north of San Diego and is located near the Pacific Ocean coastline in Southern California.
It is a popular tourist area with nearby Legoland, and many golf courses and scenic foothills in San Diego County. The population is about 95,000, and it is home to California State University San Marcos and Palomar College.
KB Homes developed a new housing development in San Marcos called “The Foothills” that features homes on a terraced hillside. There are various trails surrounding the development for hiking or biking.
The City of San Marcos requested a Romtec steel pavilion for the Las Abejas Park project within the Foothills development through the developer KB Homes. KB Homes are known for their unique designs and building exceptional homes.
Las Abejas Park features a playground, field, picnic shelter (pavilion), picnic tables, trail connection, and turf play. The pavilion features a metal roof, steel truss, and steel posts for the Foothills residents to enjoy.
The City of San Marcos, who is the owner of the park, has worked with Romtec before on their Connors Park and Richmar Park projects, so they reached out to us about this park as well.
The landscape architect was GMP Landscape Architecture who is based out of Carlsbad, California.
Rancho West Landscape was the installing contractor who provides landscaping services based out of Murrieta, CA.
Romtec designs and supplies restroom buildings along with pavilions for parks all over the country. Pavilions or gazebos can be an important shade shelter in hot regions that receive warmer temperatures in the summer months.
At Romtec, we design each project specifically to the needs of the park or location to fit the aesthetic and budget of the owner or various partners. Contact us today to see how we can design and supply your next pavilion picnic shelter at your park.
