Romtec designed and supplied a custom utility building for the Glenrio Welcome Center. Glenrio is an unincorporated community that sits on the New Mexico border with Texas along Interstate 40.
It was formerly known as Rock Island and is a part of Quay County in New Mexico and Deaf Smith County in Texas. Glenrio sits on the former U.S. Route 66 and has the Glenrio Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
It was a former railroad town along the Rock Island Railroad. Glenrio is about 3 hours east of Albuquerque, NM and an hour west of Amarillo, Texas.
In 2008, the State of New Mexico opened the Glenrio Welcome Center which welcomes people coming in from Texas on Interstate 40.
This Romtec building, on I-40 near the New Mexico and Texas border, serves as an office and as a storage unit for the New Mexico Department of Transportation. Romtec provided a roll-up door to accommodate any large items that might be kept in the storage space. Romtec also supplied the adjacent office with an air conditioning unit to beat the New Mexico heat.
Romtec designed and supplied a custom utility building that has a covered walkway, unisex restroom, lab room, storage room, and an electrical control room. The building has a metal roof, a CMU concrete block wall siding, a rough sawn post for the covered walkway, windows, and an AC unit.
Romtec was pleased to be a part of the Glenrio Welcome Center, providing two buildings that help with the operations of the welcome center at this rest stop area.
