Romtec recently supplied a single room restroom building for the City of Carlsbad, California as part of the City’s efforts to maintain and improve the quality of the Lake Calavera Preserve. The City of Carlsbad operates 40 parks and nearly 50 miles of trails. The Lake Calavera Preserve features over 6 miles of trails, available to hikers, mountain bikers, and dogs. The Lake is a man-made reservoir managed by Carlsbad Municipal Water District. Mount Calavera, the area’s centerpiece is actually an extinct volcano and one of only three located in Southern California. The City allocated $600,000 to the improvements and renovations of the Preserve. The replacement of invasive plant species was also a large portion of the improvements of the park. A grove of palm and pepper trees was replaced with several species of native plants and trees. The City of Carlsbad’s ongoing efforts to preserve and maintain this beautiful habitat ensure that the Lake Calavera Preserve will be a great place to enjoy outdoor activities for years to come!
