The City of Andover, Kansas purchased a storm shelter building that also served as a multi-user restroom for their Central Park. The beautiful 80-acre park features a lake with six fishing docks accessible to people of all abilities. The Andover Central Park also offers picnic areas, nature paths, gazebos, playgrounds, and a dog park. The restroom itself was designed to provide a safe place to ride shelter visitors during extreme weather events. This building is completely constructed out of the InsulTech block system by Oldcastle. InsulTech is a continuous insulation system, perfect for a storm shelter application. Romtec was able to design this building to meet all ICC-500 standards and FEMA P-361 guidelines for storm shelters. Additionally, the City wanted an aesthetically pleasing building that would fit the overall style of its park.
