Spencer Glacier in the Chugach National Forest, AK
Spencer Glacier starts off the “whistlestop” series of the Alaska Railroad. Not accessible by road, Alaska tourists and adventurers must arrive by train at Spencer Glacier. A tour guide can use the Romtec designed pavilion and shelter to deliver an educational oration or to map out activities in the area. The two-room restroom with ADA bathrooms and the pavilion structures sit on a foundation of authentic railroad ties donated by the Alaska Railroad. All of these structures were left unfinished with natural wood to promote the look of a railroad camp from a previous era.
