Prince George County Parks and Recreation wanted to install a new restroom building and concession stand at Scott Memorial Park in Prince George, Virginia.
Scott Memorial Park is a family friendly park with 10-acres that includes a pavilion, picnic tables, five recently added soccer fields, a playground, two baseball/softball fields, lighting and bleachers along with restrooms and a concession stand. The park has 150 paved parking spaces and 200 gravel parking spaces for larger events.
Prince George, Virginia is located 35 minutes south of Richmond, Virginia which is the state capital. Scott Memorial Park is under 2 hours from Virginia Beach, the most populous city in the state which is located next to the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of Chesapeake Bay.
Virginia is also home to the Blue Ridge Mountains on the northwest side of the state.
The Scott Memorial also features an adventure park called Tree Time. The adventure park has various levels of difficulty including obstacle courses, zip lines, and nature trails.
As Romtec and the county worked through the design process many changes were made to the building in order to bring the project within budget.
Romtec delivered a model 2084 modified building that includes multi-user men and women restrooms, along with a concession stand, and storage room.
The concession stand includes a sink, stainless steel counter, and an aluminum roll-up concession window that is 4’-8” x 4’-0”. The building has composite roofing, CMU concrete block wall, gable end fiber cement lap siding along with drinking fountains.
With the addition of more soccer fields, the concession stand helps provide snacks and refreshments for larger tournaments and events.
Prince George County Parks & Recreation in Virginia bought the Romtec restroom building through the BuyBoard purchasing contract. BuyBoard streamlines the purchasing process while meeting local procurement laws. Romtec is a vetted member of the BuyBoard purchasing contract cooperative.
Centennial Contractors Enterprises, Inc. was the general contractor installing the restroom building for Prince George County Parks & Recreation.
The county hosts recreational soccer leagues and the annual Jerry Skalsky Memorial Soccer Tournament at the new soccer fields.
