Oregon Route 99 runs through Creswell, which had a population of 5,641 at the 2020 census. A store was opened in 1872 and a community began to grow around it. Later it was named after John Creswell who was the 23rd U.S. Postmaster General. There has been a post office there since 1872.
Cottage Grove is a city of 10,000 people located 9 miles south of Creswell.
