Reno is located in northwest Nevada, near the California border and about 22 miles north of Lake Tahoe.
Reno is known for its casinos and tourist attractions with various resorts. It is the county seat for Washoe County and the most populous city in that county.
The City of Reno sits majestically in a valley with the High Eastern Sierra foothills on the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Reno is also known as “The biggest little city in the world”.
Carson City, which is the capital of Nevada, sits about 30 miles south of Reno.
The Club at Arrow Creek is a private golf course and country club that features two championship level courses.
The Club at Arrow Creek had very specific requirements for their restroom structure. The look, feel, and functionality of their restrooms had to match the level of their other buildings at the club.
The owners wanted a small restroom with a high-end feel that would also blend in with the Nevada desert surrounding the course.
The golf club asked Romtec to design a restroom facility for them that would provide the necessary amenities while upholding the standards of the private club. This meant both the interior and exterior would be functional yet attractive and would stand up to not only regular use and cleaning but also the extreme elements of heat and wind.
Romtec designed them a simple yet elegant solution. A Sierra II, consisting of two single user rooms, one each for the men and women utilizing the golf course. The real customization came on the outside of the structure. In keeping with desert surroundings, Romtec went with a combination of Saddleback rustic ledge and Meseta field ledge stone wainscoting with a matching water table. The walls were treated with sand-colored stucco and the roofing was a custom lightweight concrete tile in a light teal color. The entire look beckons golfers for a much-needed respite without dominating the landscape and meets the needs and atmosphere of the private club.
