Huntington Beach, California is a popular city in the Los Angeles area with many scenic surf beaches, including Huntington City Beach and the Huntington Beach Pier.
Another name for the iconic city is Surf City, USA as it’s known for the great surfing conditions on the Pacific Ocean and surfing events that take place there.
Huntington Beach is situated between Long Beach and Newport Beach, with Laguna Beach just to the south of that.
The City of Huntington Beach features a 9.5-mile stretch of sandy beaches, beach culture, and terrific wave surfing.
Over the past decade, Romtec has worked with the City of Huntington Beach on numerous projects. These projects required Romtec to design and supply new buildings for restrooms, concession stands, multipurpose buildings, and retail stores to be used throughout the city.
Huntington Beach Pier is known as a popular landmark on the West Coast and is a tourist destination for those visiting the area.
Romtec provided two custom buildings that were installed on the well-known Huntington Beach Pier.
The buildings were designed to match the existing style of the pier and to provide new shop spaces for vendors in Surf City, USA. This was a fun project that really demonstrates the diversity of Romtec’s construction services and design capabilities to match the aesthetic of the famous pier.
The location and building requirements meant Romtec needed to take a unique approach. Rather than CMU block walls, these buildings were built using stick-framing construction. Using photos provided by the city, the new buildings were designed to match an existing hexagonally shaped building already installed on the pier. To achieve the aesthetic, the new retail shops needed to include sliding doors for the entrances and 360-degree angled windows surrounding the building. Windows in the front of the building were required to display merchandise to foot traffic.
Romtec is proud to be a part of such an iconic project and place as we provided the design and supply of these unique retail buildings on Huntington Beach Pier.
