The township of West Orange sits in New Jersey not far from the eastern edge of New York. West Orange is a suburb of Newark and the county seat of Essex County.
Some of the main attractions in West Orange are Thomas Edison National Historic Park, Montclair Art Museum, Branch Brook Park, South Mountain Reservation, and Essex County Turtle Back Zoo.
The Essex County Turtle Back Zoo is a family friendly exhibit with animals, petting zoo, carousel, mini train, and a putt-putt golf course.
The Turtle Back Zoo owned a large carousel in an octagonal house, and it needed a restroom and concession building to go next door. Romtec designed a building that matched the shape and finishes of the existing carousel house. The new Romtec concession stand building has a large floor plan with stainless steel counters, several sinks, and a roll up concession window. The octagonal building also provides five ADA bathrooms for men’s and women’s use.
The Minigolf Safari miniature golf course at Turtle Back Zoo in Essex County, New Jersey is themed like a tour of the African continent. The course has deserts, rivers, and even a mountain; there are alligators, monkeys, gorillas, lions, and other African animals waiting to obstruct your shot. At the entrance of the course, there is a large, thatched-roof hut.
Romtec designed this restroom building to provide three ADA bathrooms, concession/ticket windows, and specialty storage space for equipment and supplies. Romtec’s expertise with pre-engineered concession stand buildings allowed Essex County and the Turtle Back Zoo to get a unique building within their budget.
Romtec designed a one-of-a-kind building to fit the special requirements the Township of West Orange, New Jersey required for the Turtle Back Zoo. We designed a Sierra IV restroom and concession building with a log structure, thatched roof, and African tribal decorations to match the safari theme of the adjacent Essex County mini–GOLF Safari.
Today the building serves as an admission stand, a rental area for golf clubs and balls, a concession stand, and of course a beautiful restroom facility and storage area. Romtec had the pleasure of working with French & Parrello on behalf of Essex County in designing the unique restroom concession building that fits with the specific settings at Turtleback Zoo. This building offered Romtec the opportunity to utilize our creativity in the design and look needed for the project.
Romtec designs, supplies, and builds restroom buildings, concession stands, and storage areas, all in unique parks and recreation facilities all over the country. Our team of designers can match a specific aesthetic, special requirements, and all building codes. We can meet your timelines, work within your budget, and design a restroom or concession building that fits your needs.
