For this pool restroom building and admission office, Romtec designed the buildings to serve Irving Pool, in Allentown, PA with six single user restrooms, a lifeguard room with restroom, and a pump room for pool operations. The pool restroom building and admission office also has an admissions building, with an aluminum roll up curtain concession window, where staff can operate the business of the pool for guests.
These unique buildings both have the same aesthetic even though they are different sizes. Matching seamlessly, the transition from the admission office to the pool is simple, and guests can enjoy the single user restrooms that are great for families. A lifeguard room and pool pump room are also included in the restroom building to provide space for all operations of the Irving Pool.
Allentown, Pennsylvania is about 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia. A lot of historic museums and places are in Allentown like the Liberty Bell Museum.
As the county seat of Lehigh County, Allentown has a population of 125,845 as of the 2020 census, making it the third most populous city in Pennsylvania.
The city was founded in 1762 and is located on the Lehigh River. It is the most populous city in the Lehigh Valley metro area which has a population of 861,899.
Irving Park is a park has baseball fields, a playground, basketball courts, and Irving Pool. There are restrooms and tennis courts also. Irving Park is located right behind Dieruff High School. The park is also known as Andre Reed Park, the name of a local football player who went to Dieruff High School.
Pool Restroom and Operations Building
The City of Allentown purchased two buildings directly through PA COSTARS and put the “Owner Supplied” Romtec Buildings out to bid with the larger scope of the project. Our buildings are support buildings for the new community pool.
BKP Architects P.C. was the project driver as the architect for this Irving Pool development. BKP provides education facilities, libraries, community centers, government buildings, and urban design projects based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The two pool buildings include an admissions office with an aluminum roll up curtain concession window with a stainless-steel counter. The other is a pool restroom building with six single user restrooms, a lifeguard room with a separate restroom, a mechanical room, and a pump room associated with the pool operations.
The large pool restroom building features a Fabral metal roof, exhaust fans, over the door vents, gable windows, CMU ground face concrete block wall, ridge windows, American Laminators glulam ridge beams, Steelcraft doors, Hager door closers, Kohler toilets, Proflo lavatories, Haws drinking fountains, Lithonia lighting, and Eaton circuit breakers.
Pool Office Building
The admissions office features a Fabral metal roof, CMU ground face concrete block wall, aluminum roll up curtain concession window, Steelcraft doors, American Laminators glulam beams, gable vents/windows, Wheatbelt rolling shutters, Hager door closers, Lithonia lighting, and Eaton circuit breakers.
Mohawk Contracting and Development installed the building on behalf of the City of Allentown for the pool project. Mohawk Contracting & Development LLC was founded in 2016 to serve the Lehigh Valley, providing General Contracting and Project Management Services.
Pool Restroom and Lifeguard Building
This pool restroom building and admissions office building match seamlessly despite being different sizes. They utilize the same type of features and service the Irving Pool. Ss guests enter, they check in and can use the single user restrooms which are great for families, privacy, and security. Romtec also designed the restroom building to have space for a pump room, which is associated with the operations and maintenance of the pool. Combining these facilities into one building saves the City a lot of money in terms of materials and construction.
We worked with BKP Architects, the City of Allentown, and Mohawk Contracting and Development to deliver these buildings for Irving Park and Irving Pool in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Working on this multi-building project brought greater collaboration and the same aesthetic across the buildings to maintain the design. This also transfers over to maintenance and upkeep of the buildings.
The pool restroom building and admissions office work together to operate the Irving Pool in Irving Park and came together to help with the business operations of the pool, while serving guests with a beautiful space to enjoy this great outdoor resource in Allentown, PA.
