Melton Design Group brought Romtec this project for a park renovation they were working on with the Chico Area Recreation & Park District.
The Melton Design Group provides landscape architecture and planning services for parks, recreation areas, and sports parks.
The building will be a renovated all-gender restroom that also houses splash pad equipment for the splash pad. The owner purchased the building directly using Sourcewell and put the installation out to bid.
Romtec provided a two-unit ADA, all gender restroom, with a mechanical/storage room. The restroom building has a single slope metal roof, skylights, concrete block wall siding, garage door, gable vents and windows, an outdoor shower, and water fountains that will service the new splash pad.
In December 2021, The Chapman Park Renovation Project was one of 62 selected projects throughout California for renovation and expansion of existing park space.
The $2.9 Million in grant funding is a transformative investment in the Chapman neighborhood. The grant allowed for the construction of a new splash pad water recreation and play area, and a walking path with lighting, fencing, and restrooms for enhanced recreational opportunities in the Chapman community.
Awarded through State Parks’ Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program, the competitive grant program creates new parks and new recreation opportunities in underserved communities across California.
Adjacent to the Dorothy F. Johnson Center in the Chapman neighborhood, this 3-acre neighborhood park features a multi-use open turf play field, two basketball courts, and several picnic tables with barbecues.
The Director of Parks and Facilities for Chico Recreation & Park District, Scott Schumann, was very pleased with the Romtec restroom and storage building.
“We were very impressed with Romtec on this project. The entire team was professional, forward-thinking, willing to collaborate and compromise, and the structure turned out beautiful. We definitely got what we paid for (and then some!). Thanks so much, please pass our appreciation on to the team. Please know we’ve had the full spectrum of contractors on projects with CARD and know quality when we see it. Romtec excelled in our eyes.”
The Romtec renovated all-gender restroom is an appealing building that fits in with the surrounding park and neighborhood to meet the design standards and requirements of the Chico Recreation & Park District. We were pleased to partner with the Parks Department along with the Melton Design Group to bring this upgraded Chapman Park project to life.
If you have a restroom building you want to get started on and need splash pad storage space, Romtec can design a building that fits your exact needs.
