Romtec designed and supplied two unique buildings for Dakins Lake in Story County, Iowa. Dakins Lake is a 103-acre recreational area that offers fishing, hiking, and overnight camping for visitors. The actual lake is 20-acres of open water and is a manmade expansion to an existing natural lake. This is an ideal location for fishing with several stocked species and rich underwater habitats. The campgrounds are open seasonally from April through October and comprise both primitive and developed camps. Additionally, two miles of trails in the park allow access for walking, bicycling, and off-road utility vehicles. The lake expansion was completed in 2015 and has since been the location of the annual Dakins Lake Ice Derby. The two Romtec buildings were designed to match each other with cultured stone exteriors and prominent red metal roofing. The restroom building’s large roof extension provides a comfortable picnic area and also includes a kitchen area for preparation.
