For the City of Key West, we are designing and supplying a park tennis pro shop for Bayview Park as it undergoes renovations. Key West is undergoing major renovations to Bayview Park: the City is resurfacing the five tennis courts, which makes the park development restroom and tennis pro shop integral to this project.
Key West, Florida
The City of Key West is located in Florida on an island south of the mainland which is connected by U.S. Route 1 known as the Florida Keys. It is the southernmost point in Florida, with Cuba 90 miles south and the Bahamas to the east.
Key West is a popular cruise ship stop and has corral reefs that provide incredible diving and snorkeling opportunities.
Tennis Pro Shop Building
The City of Key West is redeveloping Bayview Park for residents and visitors in an effort to make the park a multi-generational space. As part of the redevelopment, the baseball and softball field will be resurfaced with artificial turf, a new fence will be installed, new tennis and basketball surfaces, new pathways for walking, along with restrooms that include a tennis pro shop and a splash pad. Also included is a new green space, picnic tables, benches, lighting, playground, pavilions, and shade structures.
The Romtec Building Structure
Romtec is working directly with Key West on the design of the restroom building which includes multiuser restrooms, a tennis pro shop, mechanical room, and storage room.
The restroom and tennis pro shop building will be located near the five tennis courts at Bayview Park in Key West, Florida. The upgrades will include a newly updated layout of the tennis courts as well.
Restroom and Tennis Pro Shop Building
As part of the design of the restroom building, is a new tennis pro shop in the same building along with a storage room and mechanical room. The 507 square foot tennis pro shop is where programs, lessons, and various camps or tournaments can be organized and run out of this modern new space.
The Park Tennis Pro Shop Exterior Design
The restroom and tennis pro shop building features multiuser restrooms, a designated 507 square foot tennis pro shop space, along with drinking fountains on the outside. The exterior design includes stucco siding over CMU smooth face concrete block wall, metal roofing, fiber cement fascia, an Overhead Door large garage door to the storage room, flood venting, windows, and a perforated steel slat garage door that leads to the drinking fountains and vending machines. Included were Steelcraft doors, Proflo toilets and lavatories, AO Smith water heater, Lithonia lighting, and Tamco roof.
Added Romtec Shelter at Bayview Park
Romtec also provided a four-post single sloped shelter with a Tamco metal roof that is 33 feet long. The posts are steel columns that will be poured into a concrete slab.
The Romtec shelter will provide a long-covered area that provides a shade shelter, for breaks from the basketball and tennis courts, giving visitors a place to cool off after activity or while spectating in the heat.
Benefits Of Adding A Tennis Pro Shop To Your Park
A tennis pro shop can add value to the community where administration, planning, schedules, and programs can be held. It also offers office space for staff to plan tournaments, camps, or community programs to engage the community.
The City of Key West has operated Bayview Park for many years and knows the resurfacing of the courts will be a great addition to this park. Creating a new restroom building nearby along with a new tennis pro shop, and storage space adds to the capacity of this park, along with its value for the community and visitors.

5. It provides capacity for larger tournaments to be hosted at Bayview Park. The park with the various planned upgrades will be a community gem, providing ample space, activities, and upgraded facilities to be a hub for a variety of programs that go beyond just the tennis courts and a variety of visitors.
