Romtec has supplied restroom buildings and pavilions for multiple California schools, and the Loma Prieta project is one of the newest schools to add a Romtec building to their site.
Loma Prieta is a peak in the Santa Cruz mountains, and the Loma Prieta School District services an elementary and middle school. These schools are small and reserved for the surrounding rural area. The Loma Prieta School District prides itself as “one of the highest achieving school districts in the state of California”, according to their website (“About Us”).
The Loma Prieta School district began their project with improvements to a track and field area that is shared by the Elementary and Middle school. Part way through their project, they found out that the bathroom on site would not meet new code requirements, and that they needed a new restroom building as well.
Building codes vary across the country and are always in the process of being revised. Romtec has installed structures all over the nation, and has experience meeting a wide variety of building codes, including projects under review of the Division of the State Architect (DSA). With our vast experience, we can efficiently design a building that meets the DSA standards, which is just one of the reasons that our customers continue to return to us for their next building.
The structure that Romtec provided for the Loma Prieta project included two all-gender, American Disability Act (ADA) compliant restrooms and a mechanical room. A roof extension over the face of the structure provides protection from the elements when entering or exiting the restroom. The building is composed of split-face grey block, with black powder coated doors and frames, and an Estate Grey shingle roofing to match the block.
Inside the restroom, high use fixtures will resist vandalism and damage, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring that guests will be able to use the facilities. The restrooms also feature paper towel dispensers, recessed toilet paper dispensers, and trash receptacles mounted on or in the wall, saving space on the floor and providing for basic restroom needs.
After completion of the project, Romtec reached out to our customer and end owner, the Loma Prieta School district, who is very happy with the restroom building and Romtec’s installer. Our customers have found the Romtec crew to be extremely respectful, informative, and hardworking with a great attitude on site.
With a successful construction of the structure, and a happy end owner, this project was a success for Romtec, and we look forward to future projects with the Loma Prieta School district.
