Miller Park – Winston – Salem, NC

Winston-Salem, North Carolina with a population of less than 250,000[1], has 79 parks that are maintained by their Recreation and Parks Department. Miller Park, one of these 79, features a recreation center, play areas, walking trails, athletic fields and courts, and more. With the completion of the Miller Park Project, this park now also features a new Romtec restroom/storage building to meet all of the park needs.

Unisex Restrooms for Nebraska Park

The Romtec supplied restroom building features a storage room, a mechanical room, and two unisex restrooms. The entryways into the restrooms are on the face of the building under a truss extension that provides shelter from the elements when entering or exiting the facility. Storage room entry is on the rear of the building, and from inside the storage room maintenance personnel can access the mechanical room. The mechanical room on this structure has no exterior entrance.

Smooth face, gray block composes the sides of the structure, with siding features including board and batten siding and a stone veneer wainscot. The doors, door frames, and gable vents are all set in the block and have a black powder-coated finish for durability. The roofing on this structure is also durable, metal standing seam roofing in moss green.

Inside each restroom are floor mounted, china toilets and matching white wall hung sinks. Grab bars are located along the walls for ease of use. Diaper Decks are also present in each restroom for parents and families, ensuring that they can assist their children in the privacy of the restrooms.

Both of the restrooms are compliant with the American Disability Act (ADA) and have features to suit the needs of all park guests. For ease of use, fixtures such as exit switches, motion flushometers, and motion faucets make using the restroom easier for guests of all abilities while also providing a cleaner environment and reducing the spread of germs.

Romtec designed and supplied this building to Hodgin Construction for the installation of this structure. We would like to extend our appreciation to Stantec, the hired architect, for bringing this opportunity to us. Additionally, Romtec is looking forward to continuing the tradition of successful building projects with the City of Winston-Salem, with the Bethania Freedman’s Park Project currently in Romtec’s design phase.

That Memorial Park Project is one of our favorites too – it truly made a positive impact for our visitors, and we will continue to keep Romtec in mind as opportunities to collaborate come up!

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
