Romtec designed and supplied two buildings for the Boulder Recreation Area near Carlyle Lake in Illinois. Carlyle Lake is the largest manmade reservoir in the state and is managed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers – Carlyle Lake Office (USACE). Like many other hydroelectric sites in America, the USACE is also responsible for providing outdoor recreational opportunities in the area surrounding the dam. Visitors can choose from the many activities that the lake and land around it offers. Water based activities are readily available with three full-service marinas, two bait shops in town, and boat launches around the lake. Campgrounds with access to electricity, clean water, and modern restrooms are available for reservations. One of the entrances to the Boulder Recreation Area is now monitored from a Romtec gatehouse building. Windows installed on all sides of the building grant the occupant 360 degree vision of the surrounding area. The USACE has continued to show their preference in providing high quality buildings for their locations by partnering with Romtec for over 15 buildings and structures in the area over the years!
