Auburn, Washington Bike Park Restroom and Storage Pavilion Building

For this bike skills park sidewalk restroom and storage pavilion building, Romtec provided turnkey services, including designingsupplying, and building the sidewalk restroom and storage pavilion building, for the addition of a bike skills park at Cedar Lanes Park in Auburn, Washington. We worked with the City of Auburn to bring this bike skills park sidewalk restroom and storage pavilion building to life for the upgrades to the park.

The addition of the bike skills park required a new restroom facility and pavilion storage building, which Romtec designed and supplied to help support the new pump track area. The storage pavilion will store bikes and other equipment for the bike track.

Auburn, Washington is a city and suburb in the Seattle metropolitan area within King County.

City of Auburn, Washington

As of the 2020 census, Auburn had a population of 87,256 making it the 14th most populous city in Washington. The population has grown significantly since 2010 when the population was 70,000. The city was incorporated in 1891. The Green River and White River flow through the city providing various parks and recreational spaces along the waterways.

The Muckleshoot Indian Reservation is just south of Auburn which is home of the Muckleshoot Casino Resort.

Cedar Lanes Park is an 8-acre park in Auburn with old native cedar woodlands, trails, BBQ grills, green space, picnic tables, and a playground. The park was named for the development area in south Auburn and the number of Cedar trees on the property. The property was purchased with IAC funding before 1968 and was formally dedicated in 1969.

Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department partnered with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance for the construction of the bike skills park that was added in 2023. The City of Auburn was awarded a $250K grant to add restrooms and a storage/pavilion structure at Cedar Lanes Park that will support the summer pump track. Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is a nonprofit organization in Washington dedicated to building and maintaining trails across the state.

Cedar Lanes Park Improvements

Part of the improvements to the bike skills park at Cedar Lanes Park was adding an asphalt pump track, a restroom facility, and a picnic shelter. These recent improvements include four bike skills zones including a single-track flow trail, skinny zone, drop zone, and jump trails. The park is beginner friendly, and the trails are for non-motorized bikes only.

This is Romtec’s first building project with the City of Auburn, and they were able to get the “Turnkey” direct purchase approved using the KCDA Contract. Romtec turnkey services include designing, supplying, and constructing the buildings on behalf of the owner.

The sidewalk restroom building included with this park was our vandal proof sidewalk restroom structure.

Bicycle Track Sidewalk Restroom and Storage Building

The sidewalk restroom features louvered vents throughout, Steelcraft doors, Hager door closers, wall mount security light controlled by occupancy sensor in restroom, Jay Smith MFG Co. trench drain, Metcraft toilets and sink, Proflo drains, with an urban design with a sleek metal exterior. The louvered vents provide heavy ventilation, while encouraging quick usage.

The restroom is a low-cost option, that is easy to install and maintain, while discouraging vandalism and crime, making it a safe option for an urban area.

The storage and pavilion structure features a storage room, a covered roof extension with a resawn timber truss, and an Overhead Door roll up garage door. The storage building has a Fabral metal roof, Steelcraft doors, Hager door closers, Best locks, split-face reinforced concrete masonry block (CMU) wall, gable vents, ridge vents, and timber columns.

The storage/pavilion building is a great storage space for bikes and other equipment for the pump track at Cedar Lanes Park. The building blends in well with the surrounding old-growth Cedar trees and natural areas.

Providing the design, supply, and construction of the sidewalk restroom and the storage/pavilion building were complete “turnkey” services. This allows the client or owner to work with a single-source company that handles the job from start to finish.

Contact us today to get started on the design of your bike park restroom and storage pavilion building. The addition of these buildings can make the space more enjoyable for guests, bike riders, and the surrounding park and community. A storage space adds additional capacity, along with the opportunity for bike programs through the city to support recreational activities.

The storage building and pavilion add a shaded space to meet outside of the sun or rain, while providing a space to meet, organize events, and facilitate programs through the city or local park.

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
