Romtec recently published a press release with an exciting announcement about one of our newest products: Storm Shelters. Below is the press release.
Romtec’s New Product: Storm Shelters
(Roseburg, Ore.) Romtec now offers storm shelters as a new product on our website. Romtec provides the complete design, supply, installation, and documentation of every building it manufactures, including its new storm shelter models. The storm shelter models are the newest addition to Romtec’s expanding product offering and are now available to be quoted nationally.
Storm shelters fit perfectly with the design and construction capabilities of Romtec. These are solid, concrete buildings designed to withstand natural forces created by severe weather conditions such as tornadoes and hurricanes. Romtec has been designing, supplying, and constructing durable, site-built concrete buildings for over 25 years. The new storm shelter models benefit from this experience and expertise with concrete constructed buildings.
The Standard Storm Shelter Models
Each of the three new standard storm shelter models offered by Romtec is designed to meet all applicable codes governing these types of buildings. They meet the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA P-361) guidelines and the International Code Council (ICC-500) consensus standards for storm shelter design. Romtec is also a recognized Producer Member of the National Storm Shelter Association (NSSA), and our first storm shelter model has passed NSSA and independent third party review, with more models going through the design and approval process.
“Romtec chose to develop storm shelters as a product because they are very similar to buildings that we already offer, and as with all our products, designing them correctly and code compliant was our top priority,” said Mark Sheldon, Romtec’s Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Engineering. “Storm shelters are designed to protect lives, and we took the necessary steps to ensure these buildings are designed to meet the strictest national standards.”
Storm Shelter Configurations
Romtec can configure storm shelters in a standard configuration to be high-quality and still affordable. Romtec also offers its complete design options to provide storm shelters in locations with more visibility. This means that Romtec can include a wide variety of aesthetic configurations and custom designs that match existing facilities. Romtec provides customers with durable, site-built concrete construction as well as design considerations for the most high-profile of locations. These storm shelter models are a great addition the Romtec product offering.
