Romtec recently supplied a toilet riser for a waterless restroom that went on an interesting journey to a remote location. Romtec was founded when the toilet riser was patented in 1978. Ever since, our polyethylene risers have become the national standard for waterless restrooms.

All of Romtec’s waterless restrooms are called the SST models because each model includes Romtec’s Sweet Smelling Technology. In the days before Sweet Smelling Technology, waterless restrooms were called outhouses, and ventilation was handled inadequately for comfortable use.

Designing restrooms for urban environments can be challenging. There are wide-ranging considerations like heavy usage, crime, locating utility tie-ins, and aesthetics. Each of these areas can require substantial deliberation and research to create a successful design. Thankfully, Romtec offers a lot of design experience for urban restrooms.
