Boise, Idaho Urban Park Sidewalk Restroom
For C.W. Moore Park, an urban park sidewalk restroom was utilized to encourage quick use of the facility while discouraging vandalism or misuse. This urban park sidewalk restroom was placed as part of renovations to enhance C.W. Moore Park in Boise, Idaho while making the space more welcoming in the urban downtown setting.
We worked with the City of Boise Parks & Recreation and EKC, Inc. to design this sidewalk restroom that is heavily ventilated, compact and encourages quick usage. Its louvered vents throughout allow for others to see if someone is inside the restroom while maintaining privacy. This aspect makes vandalism less likely, and the smaller unit discourages misuse. All the features are minimalist in nature and are stainless steel to prevent further vandalism.
Boise, Idaho is the capital of the state and home to many great outdoor activities with scenic mountains, the Boise River, and various lakes.
The Bogus Basin is a mountain recreational area just to the north of Boise with a ski resort and summer activities. As the county seat of Ada County, Boise is also the most populous city in the state with a population of 235,684 as of the 2020 census. The Boise metropolitan area, also known as Treasure Valley, which includes Meridian and Nampa, had a population of 749,202 total.
Boise is positioned along Interstate 84 which connects Portland and Salt Lake City and lies 41 miles east of the Oregon border. The Boise downtown area has an elevation of 2,704 feet.
C.W. Moore Park is a .28-acre special use area located within walking distance of stores, restaurants and businesses in downtown Boise. The park features benches, bike racks, and historical artifacts.

Vandalism Proof Restroom
The City of Boise Parks and Recreation completed a master plan revision which included improvements: a new restroom on-site, repairing damaged pavement, installing historical plaques, renovating existing furnishings, and refreshing the planting beds.
The improvements were to accessibility and engagement opportunities, in keeping with the park’s original intent. The historic waterwheel featured in the park got a refreshment as well. Other plants and natural elements were included to enhance the welcoming and interactive nature of this historic and urban park destination.
The park features many trees, terraced seating areas, and a green lawn.
The project was put out to public bid with the Romtec drawings and specifications for a single sidewalk restroom and awarded to EKC, Inc as the general contractor who installed the restroom.
