High School Athletic Field Restroom in Marysville, California

Romtec designed and supplied a high school athletic field restroom building with four single user restrooms that is between athletic fields at Marysville High School in Marysville, California. The high school has been there since 1925 and needed some athletic field renovations, so we provided the high school athletic field restroom to add capacity to the athletic facilities.

For Marysville High School’s high school athletic field restroom building renovation, the Romtec restroom building stood out because it used a four-pack of fully private, single occupant rooms instead of the typical multi-stall boys/girls layout. This approach is especially valuable at high-volume, high-supervision venues like tracks and softball fields.

We worked alongside Lloyd Consulting, the Marysville Joint Unified School District, and BRCO Constructors, Inc. to bring this restroom building to life. The restroom building features stucco siding over CMU smooth face block wall, a metal roof, and stone veneer along with drinking fountains. The restroom blends seamlessly with the surrounding athletic fields and school buildings as it’s a modern and aesthetically pleasing structure.

Marysville, California is in what is known as Gold Country in northern California. It is the county seat of Yuba County and is 40 miles north of Sacramento along State Route 99.

The population of Marysville was 12,844 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Yuba-Sutter area of Greater Sacramento which is a smaller metropolitan area with a population of 171,926.

Marysville High School’s mission is that all students will learn at a high level to ensure college and career readiness.

High School Athletic Field Restroom

This was the first time we have worked with Marysville Joint Unified School District along with the first project completed with Lloyd Consulting. The school district upgraded its athletic facilities at Marysville High School as it moved to that location in 1925.

The project reorganized and modernized the existing track and sports field facilities at the high school. Included in the modernization of the athletic facilities and layout, was a Romtec restroom which is located between the two sports fields and a storage shed for sports equipment and field maintenance equipment and supplies, located at the northwest corner of the track. Included in the renovation was a new track, lighting, terraced lawn, fencing, a new entry, and new native adaptive landscaping around the athletic facilities including shading trees.[HD1.1]

The restroom features a Fabral metal roof, vent boots, drinking fountains, gable vents, cedar trim, stucco siding over CMU smooth face concrete block wall, McNear brick veneer, Steelcraft doors, American Laminators glulam beams, tongue and groove decking, Hager door closers, ProFlo toilets and lavatories, Lithonia lighting, and Intermatic load center and circuit breaker.

We worked to design a building that blended in seamlessly with the surrounding athletic facilities. [HD2.1][JG2.2]We also delivered the project on a quick turnaround, and timeline, to meet the required deadlines for the project. We streamlined our design and supply process of the restroom building to meet the projects timeline.

To meet the standards of this project, we worked with the DSA to ensure the structure met all local requirements and state requirements for public high school structures.

The new restroom for the athletic fields at Marysville High School in Marysville, California is a welcome addition to the athletic sports complex, that underwent renovations.

Romtec is proud to provide this restroom building in partnership with the Marysville Joint Unified School District along with the other partners involved in the project. The beautification and upgrades to the athletic facilities at Marysville High School are a welcome addition.

Why “four single-user restrooms” is a standout feature:

  • Privacy in school settings
Single-occupant rooms provide full visual privacy—more like using a restroom at home—rather than entering a shared multi-stall space. This “individual room” approach aligns with K–12 best-practice thinking around privacy, security, and optimization for sporting events.
Four fully enclosed rooms gave students, athletes, and families a more private, comfortable restroom experience.
  • Inclusive by design (flexible “unisex” capability)
With a quattro-style layout, each room can be designated men’s, women’s, or unisex, giving the school the flexibility to match community needs and event-day demand.
Because each restroom is a private room, the school can operate them as unisex facilities—simple, inclusive, and easy to manage.
  • Faster throughput on game day (reduces lines)
Four separate rooms means four independent points of service. Instead of one gendered room backing up while the other sits underused, single-user rooms can be used by whoever is next, which improves efficiency and can reduce wait times—one of the key operational benefits often associated with single user restroom models.
  • Better supervision + fewer behavior issues
K–12 owners often care deeply about sightlines and safety.Single-user rooms support safer, more manageable restrooms by reducing the problems that can happen in large multi-stall spaces.Marysville High School’s athletic field renovation included a new restroom building designed around four single-user rooms, creating a more private, flexible, and event-ready facility for students and spectators. By using individual, fully enclosed restrooms—an approach associated with improved efficiency and supervision in K–12 settings—the building helps keep lines moving on game day while offering a more comfortable experience for everyone.

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
