Krusi Park – Alameda, CA

For the Krusi Park Renovations project, the Alameda Parks Department came to Romtec for the turnkey replacement of a new recreation center at their Krusi Park location. The Alameda Parks Department has very active recreation centers in all of their parks, and the new Krusi Park recreation building will provide a space for daycare, yoga, school functions, and more for the community.

The new recreation center is a custom building with a single slope roof that extends over the front and rear of the structure. This building’s design combines stucco siding panels and lap siding for a modern mix of textures and materials that are aesthetically pleasing. Men’s and Women’s restrooms are accessible from the exterior of the building, as well as the mechanical room, kitchen, and multi-purpose room.  The multi-purpose room features multiple entrances, as well as interior entrances to a gender-neutral bathroom, an office, and a storage room that cannot be accessed from the outside.

Multi-Purpose Community Building

The structure is composed of smooth-face gray block, which provides the base for the Hardie Lap and Hardie Panel siding in “Cedarmill” and stucco, respectively. In addition to different textures and materials, different colors are also used on the siding. The Lap siding is painted in Sherwin Williams “Black Swan”, and the Stucco is painted in Sherwin Williams “Gris”.

Inside the restrooms, kitchen, and storage room, the walls are lined with Glasliner FRP panels for an easy to clean surface that features a gray color to match the exterior color scheme. The restrooms feature white china floor mount toilets and matching wall hung sinks, and meet the standards of the American Disability Act (ADA).

The mechanical room provides access to piping for the kitchen and all of the restrooms, and includes a water heater and mop sink. The Alameda Parks Department is very conscious of maintenance of their parks and buildings, and include maintenance friendly buildings in their design requirements.

Krusi Park’s new recreation building includes facilities for a wide range of purposes to serve the community’s needs. As part of Romtec’s turnkey replacement services, Romtec’s own construction crew, carried out all of the installation and customization needs of our customer. Romtec’s Construction team has installed hundreds of Romtec structures, making them incredibly familiar with our plans, and adept at troubleshooting on the site.

The Alameda Parks Department was able to purchase this structure through the California Multiple Award Schedule (CMAS) contract, which is available to California state and local government agencies. Contracts help save customers both money and time by offering competitive prices from pre-approved vendors.

Krusi Park has always been a busy place, with a theater, a playground for both older and younger children, and an array of sports fields. It is the perfect gathering center for the community. Now, with Krusi Park’s new Romtec Building, the park is prepared to offer more events and covered space for community activities. Romtec is proud to have been selected to be apart of the growth in the Alameda Parks District and looks forward to seeing the ways this building benefits the city.

That Memorial Park Project is one of our favorites too – it truly made a positive impact for our visitors, and we will continue to keep Romtec in mind as opportunities to collaborate come up!

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
