Panton Mill Park – South Elgin, IL
The Village of South Elgin is renovating Panton Mill Park to serve as the Village event and festival space. They needed a structure that was large enough to service large events and designed to blend with the aesthetic of those events, primarily weddings, which are common at the Park. In addition to the Romtec supplied multi-purpose structure, the improvements to the park include an amphitheater with a curved roof, a splash pad, and a quarter mile of sidewalks and bike trails.

For the Park, Romtec supplied a multi-user restroom with Men’s and Women’s rooms that can accommodate five users (each) at a time, a mechanical room between each restroom, a large storage room, and a large concession area. Guest areas are accessed on either short side of the building, with the entrances to the restrooms on one side, and the concession stand on the opposite. The storage room is accessible through large double doors and allows access to both the mechanical room and the concession area.
The structure is composed of a smooth face gray block with a stone veneer wainscot and a lap siding for an aesthetic mix of textures that will fit in with any event held at the park. A roof extension on the concession side of the structure provides shade for guests when visiting the stand and utilizes a timber truss with timber posts that are supported by block footings that feature the same stone veneer as the building to provide a finished and uniform look to the structure.
The roofing on the structure is a durable metal roofing in black with installed skylights to provide natural light in both the restrooms and the concession stand. For a more pleasant experience in the restroom, Romtec provided door louvers to let in fresh air, and ceiling fans to discharge air through vents in the roof.
Inside each restroom, the walls and floors are finished with high quality Daltile in Suede gray Speckle and Ashgrey, respectively. The fixtures are wall mount, white fixtures that are separated by phenolic partitions for guest privacy. Diaper decks are in each restroom for parents to tend to their children’s needs, and in the largest stall in each restroom there is also a child protective seat so that parents can give their child a clean and safe place to sit while the parent utilizes the facilities.
The Village of South Elgin has put a lot of thought, and effort into the new structure to ensure that it can meet all the needs of park and event guests. The Romtec structure was installed at the park by Hargrave Builders, and their hard work has allowed the Village of South Elgin to transform Panton Mill Park to a true Village Event Center for everyone to enjoy.
