Parklet Restroom for Leadville Main Street in Leadville, Colorado

Romtec was pleased to provide the design and supply of this unique parklet restroom building that blends in with the surrounding historic district near the visitor’s center in Leadville, Colorado. Leadville, Colorado is a statutory city in a rural part of the state about 100 miles southwest of Denver.

Located along U.S. Route 24, Leadville is the county seat of Lake County, the most populous community, and the only incorporated city in the county. They had a population of 2,633 at the 2020 census.

Among the many mountains in the area are a variety of hiking trails and attractions including Timberline Lake Trailhead, Prospect Mountain, Leadville National Fish Hatchery, Leadville Motocross Park, Molly Brown Campground, Monarch Mine, Galena Mountain, Mt Sherman, Horseshoe Mountain, Mount Massive Wilderness Area, Mt Elbert Trailhead, Alpine Adventures Dogsledding, and Kite Lake Trailhead.

The Leadville Historic District in downtown was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1961 with historic structures from the mining era. There are 67 mines east of the city that the historic district encompasses.

During the late 19th century, Leadville was the second most populous city in Colorado behind Denver, mainly from the mining boom. Since then, the town has shifted toward tourism, highlighting its history and outdoor recreational opportunities.

The National Mining Museum and Hall of Fame opened in 1987 in Leadville.

Leadville Lake County Economic Development Corporation contacted Romtec for the design of a parklet restroom building for their visitor center.

The parklet restroom building is in the historic downtown area of Leadville, so they wanted an architecturally pleasing design that fits with the historical buildings surrounding it. The Leadville Main Street Park parklet restroom building project is a great addition to the visitor center that was in need of upgraded amenities.

The parklet restroom building will provide visitors a place to rest, get information, and plan their stay in Leadville. It doubles as a service point for locals and businesses that need reliable restroom facilities for public use.

Romtec designed and supplied a double parklet restroom building that has two ADA unisex restrooms and a mechanical room.

The building features composition roofing over underlayment with an ice & water shield at the perimeter over roof trusses, lap siding over continuous insulation over CMU split face concrete block wall, wood gable truss, exhaust roof hood, vent boots, and wall mounted lights.

Hope for Homes constructed the restroom building on behalf of Leadville Lake County Economic Development Corporation. Hope for Homes is a general contractor in Leadville, Colorado.

The Leadville Lake County Economic Development Corporation helps businesses grow and thrive in Leadville.

The City of Leadville also collaborated on this project to ensure its review and success.

The new parklet includes bike racks, benches, restrooms, and pet area.

Romtec was pleased to provide the design and supply of this unique parklet restroom building that blends in with the surrounding historic district in the main street area and near the visitor’s center in Leadville, Colorado. The Leadville Lake County Economic Development Corporation was happy with the Romtec product and the support we gave throughout the process.

The partnership with the City of Leadville and Hope for Homes made this project go smoothly to deliver a high-quality restroom building that will serve the parklet next to the visitor’s center, providing an important restroom for local restaurants and businesses year-round.

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
