Pleasant Hill Lake Park – Perrysville, OH
As part of an “upgrades and enhancements” project to six different parks in Ohio, the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District hired MS Consultants for the Pleasant Hill Lake Park and Campgrounds Project. Looking for a way to provide the right building for a great price, MS Consultants hired Romtec for the design and supply of a custom building for the Pleasant Hill Lake Park, Charles Mills Lake Park, and Seneca Marina in Perrysville, Ohio.
Pleasant Hill Lake Park features over 400 campsites, cabins, playgrounds, hiking trails, horse trails, lake access, and more. Guests to the area can spend time with their family and friends on both the land and water with boating features such as canoes/kayaks, boat rentals, and docks. For the Pleasant Hill project, Romtec supplied a custom building to service Campground Area G.
The supplied structure consists of multi-user Men’s and Women’s restrooms, a family shower room, a laundry room, a mechanical room, and four additional single-user showers. The restrooms, family shower, laundry room, and one of the additional showers are all wheelchair accessible and meet American Disability Act (ADA) requirements. Roof extensions on opposing ends of the building provide shelter when entering the restrooms and the individual showers.
The building is composed of smooth face gray block with a HardiePlank Lap Siding in Cedarmill, painted Sherwin Williams Avenue Tan by the installing contractor, Shrock Premier Custom Construction. The bottom of the building is accented with a stone wainscot, and the gable ends feature HardieShingle siding to match the lap siding. The roofing on this structure is metal roofing in Evergreen.
The natural tones in this structure help to preserve the natural beauty of the area in the campground. Rather than sticking out, this structure blends in to protect the feeling of the great outdoors while still providing guests with basic amenities. The use of different textures and materials helps to keep the building aesthetically pleasing and welcoming for guests.
Inside the restrooms are white, wall mount toilets with low consumption, motion sensor flushometers. These flushometers use only 1.6 gallons per flush, and are easy to use for guests of all abilities. Matching white, wall hung sinks also feature easy to use faucets. The showers feature vandal resistant shower heads, and the ADA showers utilize hand showers. A three-function twisting valve controls the flow to each shower head, and HDPE benches are available in every shower for convenience. The mechanical room provides easy access to the plumbing for repairs. Two gas water heaters for the facilities are also stored in the mechanical space, and provide warm water for the showers, bathroom, and laundry room.
The new structure for Campground G greatly enhances the camp area for guests at the Pleasant Hill Lake Park. The bathrooms, showers, and laundry room bring everyday conveniences to the camp area and will allow the guests to extend their stay and spend more time in the great outdoors. Shrock Premier Custom Construction installed this Romtec structure on site, enhancing the campground for the MWCD and bringing more camping opportunity to Pleasant Hill Lake.
