The city is in the central till plain region, situated next to the White River.
Attractions in Indianapolis include The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Colts from the NFL, Newfields, Indianapolis Zoo, Indianapolis Motor Speedway where the Indianapolis 500 is held, Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, Indiana War Memorial & Museum, Brookside Park, Riverside Park, Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, and Greatimes Family Fun Park.
Indianapolis had a population of 887,642 as of the 2020 census with a metropolitan area having 2,100,000 people.
Plainfield is a town just 20 miles southwest of downtown Indianapolis. Plainfield has gone through quite a bit of population growth from 27,631 at the 2010 census, to 34,625 at the 2020 census. The town is in Hendricks County.
U.S. Route 40 runs through Plainfield connecting it with Indianapolis.
Some attractions in Plainfield include Splash Island, Hummel Park, Sky Zone Trampoline Park, Echo Hollow Nature Park, W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park, AMC Perry Crossing 18, and Mulligan’s Golf.
Sodalis Nature Park was named after the endangered Indiana Bat, Myotis Sodalis, and features over 3.5 miles of nature trails, picnic areas, and a 5.5-acre pond. The park has a park shelter, a wildlife viewing platform, and a fishing pier on the lake. The park is now called Echo Hollow Nature Park.
This 210-acre nature preserve south of Plainfield was named for the endangered bat species that inhabits the park. Mature woodlands and a 5.5-acre pond with a floating dock for fishing greet you upon arrival at Echo Hollow Nature Park.
There are several walking and hiking trails that provide breath-taking views of the natural beauty inside the park.
Romtec worked with Butler, Fairman & Seufert, Inc (BFS) landscape architects to design the building and select the options for the restroom building. Once the design was approved, BFS Landscape Architects put the project out to bid. We worked with BFS on the Market Street Plaza project.
JDH Contracting was the awarded contractor and the general contractor for the project. JDH offers a full range of civil construction, wireless, fiber optics, vertical drilling, and fiber engineering services based in Plainfield, Indiana.
BFS is a new project driver that has offices in Indiana and Ohio encompassing engineering and landscape architecture services.
The Town of Plainfield is a first-time customer and was very pleased with the Romtec restroom building.
The restroom building features board & batt siding over smooth face CMU block wall, stone veneer, a 6′ roof extension, metal standing seem roof, multiuser restrooms, a mechanical room, and a resawn timber column. Also, included is a resawn timber truss roof extension, gable windows, vent boots, drinking fountains, and a ridge window.

Hendricks County developed the Echo Hollow Nature Park in 2010 but recently sold it to the Town of Plainfield to manage. It was created to help build habitats for the Indiana bat, which is on both the state and federal endangered species list.
The Town of Plainfield is working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services to continue to conserve the land where Echo Hollow Nature Park is to help with the wildlife population.
