Platte Purchase Park is a 140-acre park in Kansas City. In 2001, Platte County took in the acres of rolling farmland just north of 152 Highway and saw the potential for both passive and active recreation. In partnership with the City of Kansas City, the County built Platte Purchase Park.
A state-of-the-art playground, shelter, and one-mile walking trail are part of the $1.5 million phase one of the park. There are 13 baseball/softball diamonds with nine of those fields having the ability to be illuminated.
Platte Purchase Park allows residents time to relax in the spacious shelter located next to the playground. The shelter is available to rent through the City of Kansas City.
The City of Kansas City Parks & Recreation brought us this project because they have worked with us in the past and like our buildings. Romtec worked with the Kansas City Parks & Recreation on the Gordon Park Bathhouse, Gormon Park Chemical Building, and the Liberty Park Shelter projects.
A contractor was hired to install the project, but the review process was with the owner directly.
Romtec supplied a concession restroom building with single user restrooms and a stick framed roof that featured a hip & ridge design.
The concession restroom building has a mechanical room, concession room, storage room, five unisex restrooms, two family restrooms, and an aluminum roll up concession window with a stainless-steel counter. The siding is CMU split face concrete block wall.
The concession space and storage allow the Platte Purchase Park to host large baseball and softball tournaments while providing refreshments for day-long events. With many fields, this concession restroom building is the perfect fit for Kansas City Parks & Recreation at Platte Purchase Park.
It was great to partner with the City of Kansas City again and deliver a high-quality building that met the park, city, and visitor’s needs.
The City of Kanas City Parks & Recreation came away with an aesthetically pleasing building that meets the concession and restroom needs at Platte Purchase Park in Kansas City, Missouri.
