Summit Park Pavilion in Taylorsville, Utah

Taylorsville is a growing city in central Salt Lake County, located just southwest of downtown Salt Lake City. Taylorsville is known for its strong focus on neighborhood livability, parks, and community amenities. The city serves a diverse population and continues to invest in public spaces that support outdoor recreation, family activities, and community events.

Tank Park is a neighborhood park within Taylorsville that serves as a gathering place for families, community events, and outdoor recreation. As park use increased, the city identified a need for a covered pavilion and a nearby restroom facility to better support visitors.

The addition of these structures enhances the overall park experience by providing shade, shelter, and essential amenities, making Tank Park more functional for daily use and special events alike.

Architecturally Aligned Pavilion and Restroom for Public Use

This project includes two complementary park buildings thoughtfully aligned with the park & community:

  • A 40’ x 32’ single-slope outdoor pavilion designed for flexible community use
  • A separate public restroom building designed for durability, accessibility, and ease of maintenance

Both buildings were custom designed to align with the City of Taylorsville’s standards and the park’s layout. The pavilion offers a welcoming covered space for gatherings, while the restroom provides convenient access without disrupting the open feel of the park.

Custom Design and Durable Materials

Romtec provided full design and building packages for both the pavilion and restroom, focusing on long-lasting materials well suited for public park environments.

Pavilion Design Features

  • Steel support columns for strength and longevity
  • Glulam beams that provide structural integrity and a warm architectural look
  • Tongue-and-groove roof decking for a finished, high-quality appearance
  • Single-slope roof design that delivers a modern aesthetic while simplifying drainage

Restroom Building Features

  • Concrete masonry units for durability and vandal resistance
  • Fiber cement siding for low maintenance and long service life
  • LED lighting for energy efficiency and visibility
  • Stainless steel restroom accessories designed for public use
  • Fully ADA-compliant features to ensure accessibility for all visitors

These material selections reflect Romtec’s focus on site-built park restroom buildings that perform well over time while maintaining a clean, modern look.

Adapting to City Requirements

During the design phase, the City of Taylorsville refined how the restroom should serve park visitors. Romtec worked closely with the City and design team to adjust the layout so it better matched updated preferences and supported a comfortable, accessible experience for the community.

As the design moved forward, Romtec also coordinated with the project team to incorporate owner-provided roofing and electrical elements. Through clear communication and detailed drawings, all components were carefully aligned to keep the project organized and on track.

This flexible, team-focused approach allowed Romtec to meet the City’s needs while delivering a custom restroom building that supports both daily park use and long-term community goals.

Romtec’s Design Coordination and Flexibility

The Summit Park Pavilion and Restroom project was brought together through strong collaboration, led by Romtec’s experience in designing and supplying custom park facilities. From early planning through construction, Romtec worked closely with the City of Taylorsville and the project team to ensure the buildings met city standards and served the community well.

The City of Taylorsville set the vision for durable, accessible park amenities, and Romtec helped turn that vision into a buildable solution. Through clear communication and responsive design support, Romtec guided the project team through design updates and coordination, keeping the process organized and efficient.

Romtec collaborated with G. Brown Design to finalize drawings and support permitting, while coordinating closely with landscape architects Joseph Wing and Ben White to ensure the pavilion and restroom fit naturally within the park. Strong Excavation handled site work and construction, supported by Romtec’s detailed documentation and building packages.

By leading the design and supply of both the pavilion and restroom, Romtec helped streamline the process and deliver park buildings that are functional, durable, and easy to maintain. The result is a well-integrated park improvement that reflects Romtec’s ability to listen, adapt, and deliver custom solutions that meet the needs of cities and the communities they represent.

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
