Edmonds College in Lynwood, Washington

Lynwood, Washington is a city on the edge of the Puget Sound that is 15 miles north of Seattle.

Within Snohomish County, Lynwood sits at the intersection of Interstate 5 and Interstate 405. State Route 99 (Pacific Highway). Interstate 524 also runs through the city.

It is the fourth largest city in Snohomish County, with a population of 38,568 as of the 2020 census. It is also part of the Seattle metropolitan area.

Lynwood was logged and settled in the late 19th century by homesteaders as a planned farming community, including Alderwood Manor. The city was incorporated in 1959 and grew into a suburb in the years after the construction of Interstate 5 and Interstate 405.

Known as a bedroom community or suburb, Lynwood does have a high concentration of retailers and many businesses at the Alderwood Mall, which opened in 1979, and sparked the development of eastern Lynwood as a retail and office district.

Attractions in the area include the Lynnwood Recreation Center, Heritage Park, Lynndale Park, Scriber Lake Park, Meadowdale Beach Park, Meadowdale Playfields, AMC Alderwood Mall 16 movie theater, City of Lynnwood Municipal Golf Course, Lynnwood Ice Center, Scriber Creek Park, and Wilcox Park.

Community College Transit Restroom Building

Edmonds College is in Lynwood, a local community college with 17,0000 students taking classes each year. Edmonds College was founded in 1967. The City of Lynwood Municipal Golf Course, Triton Field, and Gold Park are all close to the Edmonds College campus.

Community Transit is a repeat customer looking to model new restrooms off the Swift Green Line restroom building Romtec completed in 2019. Romtec designed the new restroom at Edmonds College to match the Swift Green Line restroom that is at a transit station.

Community Transit is a bus service in Snohomish County that also provides vanpool and additional transportation services to help the community travel within Snohomish County and to link light rail, Seattle, and transit centers.

This project was for the Community Transit Swift BRT Orange Line. The Orange Line runs between Edmonds College in Lynnwood and McCollum Park – Park & Ride in Mill Creek. The Orange Line connects with the Swift Blue Line at Highway 99 & 196th Street in Lynnwood and shares stations with Swift Green Line on Bothell-Everett Highway in Mill Creek.

Community College Transit Restroom Building

The restroom building features two ADA unisex restrooms and a mechanical room. The building has a single slope metal roof, ground face CMU concrete block wall, gable/peak end fiber cement lap siding, exhaust outlet, ac unit, cantilever, and skylight windows.

Romtec provided the design and supply of this restroom building for Community Transit in Lynwood, Washington at Edmonds College. The restroom provides users who are coming and going from Edmonds College on the Community Transit Swift (Bus Rapid Transit) Orange Line with a restroom facility.

We often work with clients on repeat projects to design a building to exactly match another building or something similar to keep the overall aesthetic the same. We can also match existing buildings in the area to seamlessly provide a restroom that fits with its surroundings.

Our process is easy to replicate other buildings as we take the basis of design from previous projects to move forward with a new building that has the same features. We accomplished this with the Edmonds College project for Community Transit on their Swift Bus Rapid Transit Orange Line restroom building matching their Green Line station.

Romtec designs restroom buildings to meet the needs of the park or location, by assessing the flow of the restroom in accordance with the area around it. We were able to do this for the Edmonds College restroom that meets a variety of needs especially for the Community Transit bus line.

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
