Gorge Hub Improvements – Cascade Locks, OR
In the Gorge Hub Improvements project, Romtec worked with Curran-McLeod (Engineer), Lee Contractors, and the City of Cascade Locks to supply a restroom/shower structure at Overlook Park in Cascade Locks, Oregon.
Cascade Locks is a small town that sits along the Columbia River, an important waterway for the Native population that inhabited the area, Lewis and Clark in their historic cross-country journey, and the current residents that reside in towns along the shores. The Columbia River serves as a border for Washington and Oregon, and on each side residents and guests can enjoy lush forests and wildlife. Cascade Locks is situated along the Oregon banks of the Columbia River, and Overlook Park provides a scenic lookout point in town for River and Thunder Island, which serves as the Cascade Locks Marine Park recreational area.
With the proximity to the River, the Marine Park, the Docks, and more, the City of Cascade Locks set out with their Engineer of Record, Curran-McLeod, to purchase a small restroom/shower building for guests to use. Their search brought them to Romtec, and we were happy to help.

The Romtec structure supplied for Overlook Park features a small unisex restroom with a shower; a large, unisex, ADA compliant restroom with a shower, bench, and a diaper deck; as well as a mechanical room that houses electrical components and a water heater to provide warm water to the facilities. The structure is composed of a smooth face grey block with a Chardonnay Dressed Fieldstone veneer wainscot and board and batten siding. The entrances to the restrooms/showers are on the face of the structure under a timber truss roof extension with timber columns, with the mechanical room entrance on the rear of the structure out of view of the public.
To improve user’s experience inside the restroom, gable windows were installed on the front and rear of the structure for natural lighting, and door vents provide fresh air to enter the building. Natural lighting and ventilation such as this is an easy way to improve user experience and create a more energy efficient structure.
After installation of the structure onsite by Lee Contractors, Romtec reached out to Curran-McLeod and the City of Cascade Locks, who were very pleased with their structure and felt that the end product was of a desired quality. Our goal is to provide our customers with structures that meet their needs, aesthetics, and budget, and with a happy customer, the Gorge Hub Improvements project was a success.
