North Shore Community Park is a new 5-acre community space in Mecca, California where Romtec supplied a new public restroom building with an included bike repair room. North Shore is a rural community located along the Salton Sea, California’s largest lake. North Shore Community Park was designed by residents. It will serve as a public gathering space for many community activities. The new community building provides the park with two multi-user restrooms, a room for housing electrical equipment, and a bike repair room for the local bike club. In the past, North Shore was a very popular recreation destination, but rising salinity levels in the Salton Sea led to a decline in tourism, which now conjures an image of Mecca being a ghost town. North Shore residents and the Kounkuey Design Initiative, however, came together with North Shore Community Park to utilize their resources and stimulate the local economy, establishing their community as alive and thriving!
