Highline Lake State Park is a popular recreation site in the Grand Valley near Grand Junction in western Colorado.
The Grand Valley region is roughly 30 miles long and 5 miles wide next to the Colorado River. The area is known for its fruit, featuring many orchards and vineyards. Grand Junction is the main city in the region serving as a hub for western Colorado.
Highline Lake State Park features two lakes, lush grass, trails, beaches, recreation areas, and trees. The park, which is managed by Colorado Parks & Wildlife, also has an overnight camping area and trail system nearby.
The park had an outdated restroom with an insufficient capacity for the number of users who showed up at the lake to cool down in the summer months. The old building was creating long lines near a popular picnic and beach area.
The park was looking for a pre-designed option to help speed up the replacement process.
The new park restroom that Romtec designed and supplied has eight toilets for the men’s and women’s sides along with a family restroom.
The 2098 modified multi-user restroom features a metal roof, stone siding, a deck mount skylight, a roof extension that acts as a picnic shelter, and a resawn timber truss and post.
Dare-Case Contracting was the general contractor on this project managing the installation of the restroom in Colorado. Dare-Case has been in business since 2010 based out of Grand Junction, Colorado providing local, state, and federal construction services.
Huddleston-Berry Engineering & Testing, LLC was the geotechnical engineer for this project. Huddleston-Berry is also based in Grand Junction, providing engineering and testing services.
