The City of Bloomington had a project at Mount Normandale Lake in Minnesota for a new restroom and park maintenance garage building.
The city wanted to have a CMU Block building and reached out to Romtec for additional services. They purchased directly through Sourcewell a cooperative purchasing agreement. They chose Romtec to provide the demolition for the existing buildings, site work, and installing the new building.
Romtec sales worked directly with the city and WSB Engineering to come up with the design of the building and on the proposal. We had worked with WSB on past projects.
Romtec coordinated with the owner to define the scope and product offering. The project is located at the south end of the Chalet Road parking lot on the west side of Normandale Lake Park.
The new building is 1,532 square foot that combines the new restrooms and a park maintenance garage to replace the existing separate restroom and maintenance garage buildings.
The new facility has two gender neutral, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant restrooms and a utility room. Around 1,200 square feet of maintenance space, replacing the approximately 400 square foot existing garage. It also has office space, an eye wash station, additional storage, and parking.
The building features a metal roof, fiber cement lap siding over 8″ x 16″ CMU smooth face concrete block wall, stone veneer, two garage doors, timber truss roof extension, and windows.
Romtec had worked with the city’s parks department previously on the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge Trailhead pavilion and building project.
We were proud to provide turnkey services for the design, supply, and construction (demolition, site work, and installation) of this restroom and maintenance garage building at Normandale Lake Park for the City of Bloomington in Minnesota.
