This new restroom building and shelter will provide a covered space for picnics at the popular Reiger Park in Forest Park. Forest Park, Illinois is a village in Cook County and a suburb of Chicago.
The village had a population of 14,339 at the 2020 census. Interstate 290 runs through Forest Park connecting it with the greater Chicago area. The Des Plaines River runs through the village.
The village is home to the Forest Park terminal on the CTA Blue Line along the Eisenhower Expressway and connects the area to the O’Hare International Airport.
Forest Park is home to various attractions including Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio, Unity Temple, Pleasant Home, William H. Winslow House, Oak Park Conservatory, Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Museum, Arthur Heurtley House, West North Avenue, Park District of Forest Park, Forest Park Public Library, Druid Monument, and Portillo’s Forest Park.
Reiger Park in the City of Forest Park underwent renovations that included a new water feature, a gaga ball pit, a sand area, a shelter with restrooms, and tables with checkerboards. The park also has a soccer field and a playground which received upgraded all abilities equipment.
Romtec provided a two-unit single user restroom building with a mechanical room and a roof extension that provides a covered shelter space.
The restroom and shelter feature two ADA unisex restrooms, standing seam metal roof, fiber cement lap siding, stone veneer accent siding over CMU smooth face concrete block wall, gable vents, vent boots, water fountains, wood columns, and resawn timber truss with a roof extension.
Hitchcock Design Group contacted Romtec for the Reiger Park project in the City of Forest Park. It is very similar to most of the buildings we do with the Hitchcock Design Group, which include Rose Park, King Park, Haligus Park, Arroyo Trails Park, and 95th Street Community Plaza projects. Hitchcock is a landscape architecture and planning firm with offices in Austin, Chicago, Indianapolis, and South Florida as they create creative outdoor spaces that improve people’s lives.
The owner purchased the building directly using Sourcewell and bid the installation out to a local contractor.
Clauss Brothers installed the building on behalf of the City of Forest Park. We have worked with Clauss Brothers before on Camera Park, Melvin Berlin Park, and 95th Street Community Plaza projects, all in Illinois.
