Tamarack Park – Hillsboro, OR

Tamarack Park in Hillsboro, Oregon, is located in the Reed’s Crossing Community. Developed by Newland Communities, Reed’s Crossing is a “mixed-use” community that boasts sustainability and offers 28 acres of habitat and recreation, according to the Reed’s Crossing Website.

To make the Reed’s Crossing Community complete, Newland Communities needed a park and paired up with Architect Greenworks PC to make their vision come to life. Greenworks PC was familiar with Romtec’s capabilities, and knew that we would be able to deliver structures that would suit Newland Communities’ needs. For the Tamarack Park project, Romtec supplied two structures, a modified Romtec Model 2024 restroom building, and a pavilion.

Picnic Pavilion with Matching Restroom Building

The restroom building consists of two unisex restrooms on the face of the building, and a mechanical room on the back. The single slope building is composed of smooth face block in gray with a wood slat furring around the crown of the structure. The doors and door frames are painted in Sherwin Williams “Gusto Gold” that stands out against the block of the building and provides easy visibility for the entrances.

The fixtures inside the restrooms are white china and wall mounted to save space and maximize maneuverability in the restroom. Wall mount structures also make clean up a breeze and reduce the surfaces that can be vandalized. These restrooms also feature upgraded accessories such as push button faucets, exit switches, and Dyson Airblade V hand dryers that make using the restrooms easy for park guests of all abilities.

To match the restroom, a custom 22’ x 30’ pavilion was also provided by Romtec. The columns on the pavilion rise out of footings composed of the same block used in the restroom structure, with a stone veneer by the installer. The pavilion roofing matches the restroom roofing and gives a clean and unified look to the park.

The Romtec supplied structures were built on site by Northwest Earthmovers, Inc. and will be owned by Portland Parks and Recreation after construction. Tamarack Park’s journey with the Reed’s Crossing Community has just begin but we are sure that the park is a welcome addition that will be enjoyed by residents for years to come.

That Memorial Park Project is one of our favorites too – it truly made a positive impact for our visitors, and we will continue to keep Romtec in mind as opportunities to collaborate come up!

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
