Strata Park – Chula Vista, CA
Strata Park is one of the newest additions to the Millenia Community in Chula Vista, California. The Millenia Community plan includes numerous parks to allow residents to quickly access outdoor recreation areas. To meet their goals, Meridian Development hired Spurlock Landscape Architect to design the outdoor space at Strata Park, and came to Romtec for the design, supply, and construction of the new restroom building.

The Romtec restroom structure has a single slope roof, with durable metal roofing in “Storm Grey”, atop a mortar joint block structure. The block is arranged in a stacked bond pattern, with each block stacked straight on top of another in rows along the building. To provide texture to the exterior of the building, the natural grey block features a shot blast finish.
Powdercoated doors and doorframes on this building protect from weather and vandalism. Powdercoating provides damage resistance for the metal, allow customization to meet the aesthetic needs of our customers. Additional weather protection on this feature can be found in the wood tongue and groove decking, which has been coated with Thompson’s WaterSeal to protect from water damage.
Inside the structure are two unisex, American Disability Act compliant restrooms and a mechanical room. Entrances to the restrooms are found on the face of the structure, with the entrance to the mechanical room located on the side. Each restroom features hardy stainless steel, high use fixtures that will be able to withstand frequent use at the park.
The restrooms have additional, upgraded features that will make using the restroom easier for visitors of all types. For families and guests with young children, diaper changing stations have been included in each restroom. The restrooms also feature push button faucets and air hand dryers.
The mechanical room on the Strata Park Project features an elevated Utilitub 12 with a two-handle faucet. Often times, mechanical rooms feature sinks for maintenance personnel use. Including a sink in a mechanical room provides a quick and easy way to clean both hand and tools after a messy maintenance job, and will make it easier to clean the mechanical space.
Installation of the Romtec supplied restroom structure was performed by Romtec’s own construction crew. Utilizing Romtec construction in “turnkey” projects can save our customers both time and money on a project, and means that there are fewer contracts to negotiate.
With the successful install and completion of this project, the Millenia Community gained one more park to spend their afternoons in the sunny California weather.
