Lakeside, California is a census designated area east of San Diego in southern California. Sitting within San Diego County, it is home to Lake Jennings and Lindo Lake where Lakeside County Park provides a variety of recreational opportunities.
The population of this city was 51,152 in the most recent census. San Diego is about 20 miles southwest.
Attractions in the area include Louis A. Stelzer County Park, Lake Jennings Campground, Lakeside Community Center, Cactus County Park, Willowbrook Golf Course, Flinn Springs County Park, and the Historic Flume Trailhead.
Another major attraction set to open soon is the Dianne Jacob Lakeside Equestrian Park. The park sits on 13.88 acres and according to the San Diego County Park & Recreation website the equestrian park “Is designed to host a variety of equestrian and livestock-related activities. These may include practices, training, and contests – as well as shows and non-equestrian events like receptions, dog shows, farmers markets, and other special occasions – and can accommodate hundreds of visitors of all abilities.”
The new equestrian park features custom buildings and features including: a large, covered arena; an open arena; a maintenance building; a concession building, restroom building and banquet hall; livestock corrals; a shade pavilion; picnic tables; parking and ADA access.
The County of San Diego has worked with Romtec for over a year on the design and feasibility of this project. The County of San Diego is a repeat customer.
The County of San Diego Parks & Recreation worked with sales to finalize the design and put together the bid documents for the project. The project includes eight different buildings with seven different designs. The largest building is a multipurpose event center.
This multi-building project showcases several of Romtec’s product offerings in one project, with a variety of different types of buildings that match a certain aesthetic scheme. Included in this project was a compost enclosure, trash enclosure, covered viewing box, dumpster, meeting room/kitchen (concession), announcer’s booth, shop building, and restroom.
There were multiple design changes prior to production, during production, and post-delivery, but we were able to work efficiently through every change to deliver a high-quality product.
Hazard Construction was the general contractor for this project who is based in California and does various projects in public works, site development and construction management in the San Diego area.
The installation contractor was Fordyce Construction of the Romtec-supplied buildings. Fordyce Construction provides contracting services, general engineering, and building contractor services to its customers based in Santee, California.
Romtec sent a construction advisor to the site twice to oversee the offloading and check-in process, as well as to oversee and inventory the previously delivered smaller structures.
Both Romtec’s project management and construction management teams worked hand in hand with Fordyce and Hazard Construction to ensure completion of the buildings and structures.
We worked to help mitigate any delays throughout the building process as some buildings were delivered at different times.
The shop building which was one of the featured buildings has Country Ledgestone rock under a section of fiber cement siding, a metal roof, and two roll up doors. The multi-user restroom building, and concession building features the same type of siding to create a matching aesthetic for all the structures.
This project for the Dianne Jacob Lakeside Equestrian Park in California for the County of San Diego Park & Recreation department demonstrates our ability to deliver a multi building project, with different designs, while matching a specific aesthetic.
We were able to deliver unique designs for each building that met the project and owner’s needs for this new equestrian park.
