Replacement Multi-User Restroom for Mt. View Cemetery – Oregon City, OR
Oregon City, Oregon is a beautiful, scenic, and historic city situated just to the south of Portland sitting next to the Willamette River.
The scenic Willamette Falls flow down the Willamette River adjacent to this city where there are various lookouts to view the falls. This city is the county seat of Clackamas County and had a population of 37,572 in the 2020 census.
The city was created in 1829 by the Hudson Bay Company, and it became the first U.S. city west of Rocky Mountains to be incorporated in 1844. It was also the last stop on the Oregon Trail, as land claims were popular during this time.
The Clackamas River runs along the northern end of the city, making the boundary line for the neighboring city Gladstone before the river enters the Willamette River.
This city is home to many historic buildings that pay tribute to the past, including the McLoughlin House – Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, Ainsworth House & Gardens, and Canemah Bluff Nature Park.
Known as a suburb of Portland, it sits on the southern edge of the Portland metropolitan area.
Other local attractions include Clackamette Skatepark, Newell Creek Canyon Nature Park, OC Golf Club, Stone Creek Golf Club, Rivercrest Park, Singer Creek Park, Chapin Park, Hillendale Park, Wesley Lynn Park, and Tyrone S. Woods Memorial Park.

Romtec has worked with the City of Oregon City on numerous buildings and pavilion projects including Chapin Park, Filbert Run Park Picnic Shelter, Rivercrest, and Tyrone S. Woods Memorial Park.
Mountain View Cemetery within Oregon City is a pioneer cemetery with views of Mt. Hood. A Memorial Day commemoration service is held at the cemetery at the Veterans Memorial Plaza annually in an outdoor event and seating area .
This project came to Romtec directly from the city who is replacing the restrooms at Mt. View Cemetery. They purchased the turnkey restroom building through the Keystone Purchasing Network (KPN) contract. Romtec provides turnkey services where we can demolish old structures, do site work, and construct the building.
The design was based on the previous Chapin Park Project with some minor changes based on their feedback. The main difference between the Chapin project was the city wanted block partitions with phenolic doors on the Mountain View Cemetery. Interior colors are the same as Chapin Park, but they selected new exterior colors.
The multi-user restroom building that sits next to the main office of Mountain View Cemetery has a storage room and a mechanical room. The building offers ADA-accessible features, skylights for additional natural light, a metal roof for durability, fiber cement board and batten siding over CMU concrete block wall, and a roll-up door for the storage room.
This overall building fits seamlessly into the surrounding environment, buildings, and within the historic Mountain View Cemetery. It allows the cemetery to have the necessary restroom space for larger community events like the Memorial Day service or for burial services. It also provides space for maintenance equipment for the upkeep of the cemetery.
