Antlers Park Steel Pavilion

Antlers Park is a destination park located on Lake Marion, with a popular swimming beach, picnic shelters, recreational trails, and more. This park is heavily utilized and starting to show its age. The City of Lakeville acted and approved various improvements to Antlers Park.

The improvements include expanded parking lot areas to accommodate peak season traffic, a central plaza, updated modern restrooms, additional picnic shelters and shade structures, along with other improvements. The central plaza will be constructed where the historic dance area was once located.

Additional upgrades include recreation amenities such as sand volleyball courts, lawn area, children’s playground, and Lake Marion Regional Greenway Trailhead. This will provide walking and biking access to the city’s extensive trail system.

The reconstruction and expansion of Antlers Park was one project that was approved as part of the November 2021 Park Bond Referendum.

Romtec is supplying three steel pavilions for this park that is getting completely torn down and installed so this will be all new construction going forward. We have worked with WSB and the city to define the building design and requirements of the structure. Once the design was complete the city purchased the buildings directly through Sourcewell and will have the General Contractor coordinate the installation for the building.

The general contractor was Loeffler Construction & Consulting who installed the three Romtec pavilions.

WSB served as the engineer for this project. We have worked with them before on the Shamrock Township and Sunny Square Park projects.

The City of Lakeview is very pleased with Romtec’s pavilions, as well as its cooperative purchasing process. One of the structures has a storage area incorporated.

Since Antlers Park is a high use public space in Minnesota, these new and existing features boast sand volleyball courts, a large custom recreation building, and covered grilling areas. Its proximity to Lake Marion makes it ideal for outdoor recreation.

The pavilion with storage space features a metal roof, steel truss, steel columns, stone siding over CMU concrete block wall, along with split face block gable. The larger one has a metal roof, steel columns, steel truss, and stone veneer siding and pier caps over the 8″x16″ CMU smooth face concrete block base.

Romtec was proud to design and supply these three pavilions for Antlers Park in Lakeville, Minnesota for the City of Lakeville providing a new space for gatherings, community events, and recreational activity at Lake Marion.

I have to mention that aside from the products Romtec supplies and the workmanship of the subcontractors (Ken and crew), I’m also very impressed with your responsiveness to issues – you’re a far cry from the usual taillight warranty.

You get what you pay for. Romtec provided the most perfect, seamless, flawless project I could have imagined. I would use Romtec 100 times over and will not consider any other options moving forward. You were able to beat my original budget and expectations. Everyone involved was great from sales to construction management, to the construction team themselves.

If I were to do this again, I would no doubt hire Romtec and its subcontractors to do the installation. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I learned a valuable lesson that I will hire Romtec’s certified installers to do the construction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dan Keagy (Romtec’s assistant construction manager). He in my opinion went above and beyond to solve our problems and problems that were not necessarily his or Romtec’s to solve. He is a great guy and great resource for Romtec. Overall, the biggest thing to me was the service after the sale. Romtec didn’t just make the sale and move on, but they supported us through a very long and arduous construction process.

Romtec was phenomenal when it came to service after the sale. They were available anytime there were questions. In addition, there were some issues with missing materials. Even though it was not Romtec’s fault for the missing materials, the were more than willing to send us the missing materials to get the project done. Romtec even sent out a representative to tour the site to give firsthand recommendations on how to proceed.
